Papillion Creative Arts Academy
The Papillion Creative Arts Academy is a place for children and youth to learn and explore the arts in an encouraging and positive environment. At PCAA we celebrate and nurture creative expression as a way to honor the gifts of beauty, imagination, and joy that God gives each of us!
FALL SEMESTER IS IN SESSION!
Fall 2024 Class Descriptions
5pm — Page to Stage: Acting (Grades 2-5) TEACHER: Lily Jones
Acting class, students will learn how they can use their body, voice, and imagination to help develop characters for the stage. They will also learn about stage directions, auditioning, and the best strategies for memorizing lines. At the end of the semester, students will bring their characters from the pages of their script to the stage at the PCAA Community Showcase!
5pm — Behind the Lens: Photography 101 (Grades 3-6) TEACHER: Liz Polivka
Photography class, students will use an iPad (provided by PCAA) to capture the world around them. Students will focus on a different camera skill each week and will also learn about the best techniques & technology for photo editing. At the end of the semester, students will showcase their selected photography at the PCAA Community Showcase! Class size is limited to 8 students.
5pm — Art Exploration: Bold Imaginations! (K & 1st Grade) TEACHER: Sara Marquiss
Bold Imaginations! class, students will create their own unique works of art based on some of the best children’s books about imagination, creativity, and courage. It will be messy and a ton of fun! At the end of the semester students will showcase their favorite artwork (& books) at the PCAA Community Showcase!
5pm — Culinary Arts: Cooking 101 (Grades 4-8) TEACHER: Anne Munter
Whether you’re already a kitchen pro or you’re just getting started, this class will help you build your cooking confidence! Each week students will develop and expand their kitchen skills, and they’ll make something delicious from scratch. Students will get to taste their creations and they’ll make notes on their recipe cards so they can continue to perfect it for family and friends at home. Classes will meet for 2 hours (5-7pm) each week and class size is limited to 10 students. ($200 Registration Fee)
6pm — Theater Arts: Improv (Grades 5-12) TEACHER: Lily Jones
Improv class students will learn about the basics of improvisation and will begin to develop their skills for creating scenes and characters. This class will be fast paced and fun — a perfect fit for anyone who loves to perform and think outside the box! At the end of the semester students will share what they have learned with an interactive performance at the PCAA Community Showcase!
6pm — Create Your Own Comic Book! (Grades 4-8) TEACHER: Josh Nichol-Caddy
Do you love to create original characters? Do you love to tell stories? In this Create Your Own Comic Book class, students will use their imaginations to create their very own characters and storyline! Each week they will focus on different skills and by the end of the semester they will have their very own comic book to share at the PCAA Community Showcase!
6pm — Art Exploration: Artist Spotlight (Grades 2-5) TEACHER: Sara Marquiss
Artist Spotlight class, students will learn about some of the greats like Vincent Van Gogh, Yayoi Kusama, Jackson Pollock, Claude Monet, and Alma Thomas. This class will allow students to experiment with art styles and build skills through a variety of projects. At the end of the semester, students will display their favorite artwork at the PCAA Community Showcase!
